Established By God
I have some great people in my life. Here's an email I received from one of them this morning. It's a great reminder.
"Regardless of outcomes, here's the truth....
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Romans 13:1Today, as in every day, we acknowledge and celebrate God's sovereign rule over his creation.
Hope all of you have opportunity to enjoy this beautiful gift of a day."

Great reminder!
i found you! good job tonight!
Thanks for the great reminder! It is still refreshing to hear God's Word relate to us even today!
I read that verse just two nights ago! Thanks for the reminder! ;)
Reading this verse brought up questions in my mind, so I compared it to verses from other translations of the bible...
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." -Romans 13:1 (KJV)
I can see where the writers of the New International Version would use "government officials" instead of "higher powers", but when you read on through the chapter, it makes it seem like the officials are in the church rather than in the government:
"For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing." -Romans 13:6 (KJV)
Other scriptures from the King James Version refer to these "higher powers" as ministers or leaders of the church instead of the goverment officials. The New International Version is a modern-day, "biblical-based" translation that seems to have changed the true meaning of God's Word. That's why I use this translation as a resource rather than the actual bible; the New International Version has been morphed into a book of opinion instead of the bible. How will this translation be taken in the next one-hundred years? People will forget about the change and think about it as the true gospel.
