Tony Campolo Interview on CBC

I just watched a great interview on CBC's The Hour. The host was interviewing Tony Campolo. Now to have Tony on a show like that in Canada is really a great thing and he did an awesome job. I'm always inspired after listening to him speak. Please follow the link. The interview is only about 10 minutes. Share your thoughts if you feel so inclined!

thanx for providing that interview, Glenn! I had missed that episode and I loved it. I do watch "The Hour" on occasion, among other CBC gems such as "The Passionate Eye", "Sunday", "The Fifth Estate". I enjoyed George's reaction to Tony - as i have seen George react very differently when the 'religion' topic comes up. Tony was passionately articulate and i thought he represented Jesus so well.

for liking Tony Campolo and Rob Bell's velvet elvis you would be branded a loose and liberal postmodern modern day gnostic by some in our town!! I dunno whether you saw on my blog or not but Rob is getting bashed in ireland right now, Tony did for a while but think he is a bit more acceptable than he used to be! makes my job good fun!!

peace

Yeah, it seems I take a liking to the controversial guys. When I find out people have a beef against them it makes me more interested. That was why I've started to reread Velvet Elvis.

Hey Glenn!
Tony Campolo is a pretty compelling speaker. I remember when I was kid watching my Dad's video's of him thinking this guy is intense. Hope all is well. Sorry I missed hanging out with you that day in Toronto. Drop me a note when you have a chance. jamesmcalister@rogers.com

CBC replayed that episode of the Hour last night so I caught most of the interview. Like Kathy, I was surprised at George's reactions to Tony. Interesting interview.

I met Tony a couple of years ago when he was booked to do a big event here in Windsor. I was invited to a Pastor's lunch with him a month or so before the big "crusade". He made a point of talking to me at the lunch and teasing me because I was only wearing jeans and all the other pastors seemed to have dressed up for their big lunch with Tony Campolo. Then when we went to the big outreach a month later we were sitting near the front and he saw me again and waved hello. I was pretty impressed. Both events worked to show me how he hasn't let his "celebrity" get the best of him.

I haven't read Velvet Elvis, but I've seen some of Rob Bell's Nooma DVD's.

Challenging stuff...
