Light Reading

A little heavier than my last blog but here it goes.

"The Islamic Resistance Movement strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine... Therefore our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious...The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: “The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews, killing the Jews. When the Jews hide behind stones and trees, they will say ‘O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him...’ Resisting and quelling the enemy is the individual duty of every Muslim, male or female. A woman can go out to fight the enemy without her husband's permission, and so does the slave: without his master's permission...”
"Thus, there is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Ji’had. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with..."
"The Zionist invasion is a vicious invasion... It relies greatly in its infiltration and espionage operations on the secret organizations it gave rise to, such as the Freemasons, the Rotary, and Lions clubs, and other sabotage groups. All these organizations, whether secret or open, work in the interest of Zionism and according to its instructions..."
"Israel, Judaism and Jews challenge Islam and the Muslim people. May the cowards never sleep."

YIKES!!

This sounds like it’s from a movie. Sadly it’s not. These are a few excerpts taken from the Charter of Hamas who won the Palestinian parliamentary election earlier this week. (Thanks Dr. Grant for the excerpt)

This is just a sobering reminder that although life is pretty rosy and easy here in North America, the stuff we see in movies IS actually still going on. I’m not sure how being part of a political party which has murder in it’s charter seems like a good idea to any human being.

If you are a praying person, please pray for the people who make the decisions about how to deal with these situations. I’m sure presidents and prime ministers and other leaders of our free world are already discussing what to do next. Without the wisdom only received from God this could get ugly. Also pray for the people in Hamas.

How’s that for some light Friday reading?

that's frightening. . we know this is going on. . but it seems so far from us. I will pray for the world leaders and for the israelis and palestinians too. I don't usually do that and i'm not sure why?? I guess because i'm selfish and their battling doesn't affect me? i'm ashamed to admit that sometimes i think that prayers won't do anything! imagine someone who claims to be in a relationship with God saying that? So, i guess i need to understand more about the power of prayer and not just see it as words and see who's receiving those prayers and what he's capable of. .

That is seriously frightening.

I don't know much about theology, so forgive my simplicty - but what have the Jewish people done to be labelled as the enemy? Why has this group of people been persecuted for as long as they've existed? Why should a little baby born of Jewish parents fall out of the womb with a target on his back? What has he done?

That's all I can say. I don't want to publish on the internet what true feelings are for the Prophet Allah, whoever he was.

We've lived for so long in our comfy, safe environment here in North America (thanks to God's blessings, mercy, and grace) that we often lose sight of the fact that the people in the Middle East are our neighbors and God's creation as well. It is very sad that some people groups whether political, racial, geographical, economical, or religious would stoop to the point of thinking that the solution to thier problems is killing someone else. That just shows you how lost Satan can make any one of us if we constantly listen to lies and follow after human leaders rather that the one, true, holy God, Jehovah the Creator. It's a small world and getting smaller by the day. All the more reason for us to pray daily for God's will for the world and its people, His creation. Sadly, the day will come eventually when reality hits, our safe North America will be gone, and people who believe this stuff will be in our backyards before many people decide it's time to pray.

Krista, you ask what the Jewish people have done to be labeled enemy? You can find out a lot about it in Genesis chapter 16 through chapter 25. It relates the history of the two sons Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael, one born by God's promise and the other born as a result of Abraham's sin when he tried to take matters into his own hands against God's promise. One was the father of the Jewish nation, the other the father of Arab people. Galatians chapter 4:21-31 also has further comments on this. Of particular note are the following verses:

Genesis 25:13, 18 "These are the names of the sons of Ishmael.... ....And they lived in hostility toward all their brothers."

Galatians 4:29 "At that time the son born in the ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now."

Glenn - I listened to Dr.Grant's Understanding Islam seminar on my way to work this morning - not quite finished, I'll listen to the rest on the way home. Thanks for giving that to me, it is really helping me to understand. I think a second listen will be necessary for me to digest it all. It's put me in an interesting headspace today - that's for sure! :)
