An idea? A Challenge?

OK. Here we go. I will be running the 2008 Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge at Walt Disney World Florida. (Yes I booked another one.) What this means is that on a cool January weekend in 2008 I will run a half marathon then on that same cool January weekend, only the next day, I will run a full marathon. Woo hoo, I'm flying off the deep end now!!!

Anyway, here's my idea/challenge. I've already issued it to my family. I want you to fly off the deep end too. I'd like to invite anyone to come and join me for either run. We live in a world where far too many of us live a sedentary lifestyle and don't make use of the amazing machine that God has allowed us to roam around in. Completing this run would not only be a gift to yourself but also to the people in your family and anyone else in your circle. If by training and preparing for this run you are able to inspire one person to get off their butt then AWESOME! That's another gift for them.

This is just off the cuff and I haven't thought it through much so I'll stop now but expect more to come. Maybe we run for a charity or something . . . not sure. Ideas anyone??

That's awesome! You're going to do the Goofy! I know the Goofy fills up early in the year, so you did good to get in. I guess I have to decide on whether I'm up for the half or full, and start making some plans...

Has anyone else taken you up on this offer? I think our sissy has?! :) Sweet!!!!

I found this blog while searching for inspiration... I'm also thinking of doing the Marathon in 2008, because I need the motivation to exercise and I'd love to get my hands on the special medal.

I am also crazy of course but I do need to start training... as I've never done anything like this before.

See you in Jan 2008!!

It's a great race...I think you will enjoy the challenge. I am shooting for a 1:49 half and a 4:05 full. Of course that's another year away (almost).

its hard to put those 2 words together without laughing! Goofy/marathon!!!!

Good for you, Glenn! I like your challenge. . but running is not for people with degenerative disc disease. . high, jarring impact. . shudder. I really want to be able to be a runner. . i wish. . fast = great! Now, if there Dance-a-thons. . .i'd be all about those!! You're right. . God has given us amazing machines! I always feel so much better after i dance, or do yoga, swim, walk. . its all awesome! We'll all be cheering you on!!!

Forty miles in two days = missing a few cards from the deck.

I can't wait to hear about it. I heard that you get a disney medal for each race, then a special Goofy one for completing both.
