Buying Foreign or Domestic?

I've always preferred to buy the "foreign" cars as they usually seem to have a better track record but this post from my 'cousin in-law' (I guess that's what you would be Nick) goes to show that domestic maybe isn't so domestic and foreign isn't so foreign.
